Lighthouses

The Butterflies made their own lighthouses.  They started by looking at different lighthouses around the world. They explored the different shape, size and colour of the lighthouses, watching video's of what they do and decided to make their own. They used cardboard tubes and screwdrivers to poke holes into the tubes for the light to go through. Then they used paintbrushes and various colours to make their own design and interpretation of a lighthouse. Once they had all dried the children sued torches to generate light through the lighthouses. Excitedly comparing the light from one light house to another. Watching how the light travelled and working with peers to shine more light with more torches. Operating the technology by pressing buttons.
