Sand Castles

The Butterflies have been exploring making sand castles as part of our summer theme. The children used different sized spades and shovels to fill different sized buckets with sand as they explored the filling and emptying of buckets and weight and capacity drawing on early mathematics skills. Once the buckets were full the children emptied them watching in awe as the mould had formed a sand castle. The children had lots of fun exploring decorating them with flags, seashells  and then had the opportunity to knock the castles down and start to rebuild them.
