St Patrick’s day

In preschool room to celebrate St Patricks day we played with a range of different activities. The first activity consisted of the preschoolers going on a Leprechaun hunt around the room. The children had to use their mathematical skills to recognise the numbers 0-10 around the room and find the leprechaun with the correct number on it, whilst listening to some traditional Irish music. We then went onto our next activity where the children learnt about the clover leaf and learnt the name ‘shamrock’. The children used their fine motor skills to colour their shamrock leaf green. Preschool also enjoyed an edible tuff tray with different cereals coloured with food colouring, all about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! They enjoyed scooping and pouring the cereals into the pots and digging for the gold coins. Our last activity consisted of the children decorating their own biscuit, and helping to pour the green food coloring into the icing sugar, using their gross motor skills to help mix it all together. The children used the spoon to spoon the icing onto their biscuits and then enjoyed eating it with their peers. We had a great day!

The babies celebrated St Patrick’s day by exploring everything green, we set up a green interest tray using some of their most loved items. The shredded paper turned this into a great sensory experience and provided them with the challenge of searching for the objects. Alongside this we listened to and enjoyed dancing to some traditional Irish music.
