The Ladybirds went on a trip into the local community to the local shops. At the shops the children worked through the list of items they needed to buy. The children selected bread, cheese and tomatoes to make their sandwiches. They added them to the conveyer belt at the tills and paid the shop assistant for the items as they learnt life skills. 

When they returned to nursery the children used the ingredients to make their own sandwiches for tea. The children used knives to spread butter and to chop tomatoes as they focused on their hand eye co-ordination and fine and gross motor skills.

The children were excited to eat the sandwiches they made.
