The Ponies helped towards out Thanksgiving lunch by making cranberry sauce. The children looked at a traditional Thanksgiving lunch and what was served. They selected the cranberry sauce to make. They made a shopping list and visited the local shops to purchase the ingredients for the sauce. Back at nursery they followed simple steps to measure and weigh each ingredient to add to the pan as they explored mathematical development such as understanding weight and capacity. They used the hot plate and carried out their own risk assessment to use the hot equipment and demonstrated excellent risk management as they used this. Once the cranberry sauce had been cooked the children all enjoyed eating it with their Thanksgiving lunch.
