The Horses explored juicing oranges. They started by looking at different ways to retrieve juice from the orange. Knives were used to cut the oranges in half and children talked about the inside of the orange and what they could see. Various techniques were used to try and juice the orange including squeezing it, pushing it and eventually using an orange juicer. Children used gross motor skills to push the orange onto the juicer, excitedly looking at the juice they produced from the orange. Children measured the juice they collected and each poured their juice into bottles exploring the capacity and volume as they filled containers. Once the bottles and containers were filled with orange juice the children proceeded to use a box to create their own orange stand. Excitedly handing this out to parents at the end of the day.
