The Horses have been exploring how plants “drink”. The children explored how the celery sticks absorbed the food colouring like plants absorb water as part of our life cycles theme.

To try this at home: put a stick of celery in a glass of water with a bit of food colouring. Over time you’ll see that the coloured water is drawn up the celery stick. They could even be set up as (very slow-paced!) races.
