Dissecting Pumpkins

This week, the children have been exploring various textures by dissecting pumpkins. They employed a range of fine motor skills to examine the insides of the pumpkins. As they delved into this activity, they engaged their senses, discussing the smells, textures, and appearance of the pumpkins.

To enhance their exploration, the children used magnifying glasses while incorporating descriptive words such as 'slimy', 'slippery', and 'cold' to articulate their observations. They also learned new vocabulary like 'stringy', 'pulp', and 'hollow' to further describe their findings.

Additionally, the children had the opportunity to engage in risky play by using child-friendly knives independently, allowing them to develop confidence and skills in a safe environment.
