This week the children have been participating in activities for children’s mental health week. These activities are too create a safe space where children can talk about what makes them feel happy, anxious, or stressed. Guided discussions we have had will encourage them to reflect on their emotions, the impact of friendships, and ways to cope with challenges. We have had conversations on topics like the importance of kindness, how to ask for help when feeling overwhelmed, and the value of taking breaks to recharge mentally. Through these activities, children learn that it’s okay to talk about their feelings and that they are not alone in facing struggles.
Painting emotions can be a powerful way for children to express and process their feelings. By putting their emotions onto a canvas, children gain a creative outlet for their inner self, helping them better understand complex feelings they might not yet have the words for. It encourages self-reflection, boosts emotional awareness, and allows them to work through challenging emotions like sadness, anger, or frustration in a healthy way. The act of painting is also a therapeutic experience, which can help reduce anxiety and improve emotional resilience.
Let’s continue to champion their mental well-being, so they can thrive both now and in the future.
