The Horses went on a trip to the forest. They collected a variety of different sized sticks from the forest floor to build a den. The children worked collaboratively and compared sizes of their sticks using mathematical language to discuss the sticks such as long and short. Once the sticks had been collected the children used the sticks to build their den. They positioned the sticks in various ways to create a tee-pee effect and used positional language to instruct each other such as under and over. Once the large den had been made the children explored the den climbing in and out and taking on roles in their play as they aced out imaginatively. Some children worked to make a smaller tent for the minibeast in the forest.
