The Grasshoppers continued to explore data in line with the transport theme and went out into the local community to collect data on transport. 

Children took charts to collect data on the amount of each colour cars they could see, and the various modes of transport they could see. 

The children collected data in the form of tally marks.

They worked together and supported each other by calling out the coloured cars and transport modes whilst others collected the data. 

The children noticed more black cars than any other colours from their charts. 

They also noticed several buses, but only one motorcycle. 

On return to nursery the children collated their data. 

They counted how many tally marks each mode of transport had. 

They all added it to a flip chart. 

Then they counted the highest and lowest amount. 

The children could see how their data was used.
