The Ladybirds have been singing the traditional rhyme The Grand Old Duke of York. The children have been excitedly taking part in actions to the song, moving their whole bodies to sounds and songs they enjoy. To extend on this further the Ladybirds took a trip to the local park where they used the equipment to take part in large scale actions to the songs, such as marching and walking up the steps and ladders to the 'top of the hill' and sliding down the slide to get 'to the bottom of the hill'. The children used positional language such as up and down as they took part in the concept. On return to nursery the children designed their own musical instruments to take part in their own Grand Old Duke of York parade.
