The Butterflies explored large sunflowers and mirrors.
The sunflowers were hung above mirrors and the children had the opportunity to paint their own interpretation of the flowers on the mirrors.
We focused on process over product as the children mixed colours and began to paint.
The children used the sunflower stems to paint and grasped them in palmer and pincer grasps.
Children gave meaning to their marks painted as they labelled parts of the flower.
Everyone was very interested in the sunflowers.
Some children smelt them.
Whilst some observed them up close.
Some children even printed them in the paint.
It was fun to look at the flower through the mirror in a new perspective.
