In Butterflies this week the children have been taking part in Shadow drawing.

We put some paper on the floor for a larger scale and space to use.

The children selected different toys and objects from around the room to draw.

Some children built towers with wooden blocks and shapes.

Other children selected dinosaurs to draw around.

The Butterflies then shone torches at the objects and we were excited to see the shadows appear on the paper.

We then worked on our fine motor skills and hand and eye co ordination whilst tracing around the shadows.

The children quickly noticed that the shadows grew larger the further away the torch was.  

We spoke about colours, shapes and sizes throughout this activity learning all the different names and also some new ones including cube and pentagon.
