Oysters and Pearls
The Grasshoppers explored oysters.
They tried through trial and error to open the oyster.
Using their fingers to pull the oyster shell apart.
Also trying to cut the oyster shell with scissors.
It was very tricky and took a lot of hand strength and determination.
When the oysters were finally open the children explored what was inside.
They noticed the contents were wet.
They explored the texture of the oyster.
Then they found a pearl!
They used a pincer movement to pick up the pearl.
They carefully used hand eye co-ordination to add the pearl to a necklace.
Threading through the strong.
Everyone enjoyed making a pearl necklace.
