Making Chalk
The Grasshoppers took part in a science task to make their own chalk. The children followed careful instruction from the practitioners in the room to add various ingredients together. Children used beakers and jugs to pour ingredients into test tubes and managed to do this without spilling the ingredients as they extended upon their hand eye co-ordination and tipping and pouring skills.
The children talked about the change in state as the liquids turned to solids. Describing the process and the new texture with new vocabulary such as 'liquid', 'solid' and 'dissolve'.
