The Butterflies explored black sand on the light board. They grasped small paint brushes in palmer and pincer grips and made marks on the light board. Using the paint brush to push the sand around the board making marks and watching the light shine through. The children explored making lines, circular movements and shapes in the sand. They explore the light and dark aspect as they noticed if they cleared more of the sand more light shone through. Using trial and error to explore.
