The children have taken part in the practical science experiment the life cycle of a butterfly. The children received a very exciting package from the postal worker containing live caterpillars. The children were able to watch as the caterpillars moved around the container and grew in size. The children were able to make predictions about what might happen to the caterpillars. Books and literature around the life cycle was read such as book like The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Children excitedly watched as the caterpillars eventually went into their cocoons and waited patiently for them to turn into beautiful butterflies. It was an excellent way for children to learn about growth, decay and changes over time.
