This week, the grasshoppers had a delightful time exploring cranberries in various ways as we celebrated this festive fruit. For their first activity, the children experimented with dried cranberries that had been frozen into festive ice cubes. They employed different tools, such as hammers and pestle and mortars to break the ice and release the cranberries. Everyone demonstrated impressive fine and gross motor skills as they utilised diverse arm and hand movements to smash, crush, and blend the ice. The next activity involved cranberry smashing. This time, the children had fresh cranberries on hand. They used laminating sheets and real hammers to safely crush the cranberries and investigate their insides.
