The Grasshoppers celebrated International Dinosaur Day by making Dino Shortbread. The children excitedly followed a recipe and simple instructions to make the shortbread. They started by weighing out the various ingredients. Adding scoops and spoons of butter, flour and sugar to the weighing scales and watching for the correct numbers to appear. Weighing ingredients allows children to have a basic understanding of weight and capacity and how adding more ingredients increases the weight. Once the ingredients had been weighed the children were able to mix the ingredients together. Watching as the ingredients changes consistency and turns from lumpy to smooth or dry to wet. Children demonstrated physical skill as they rolled out the dough and pressed the dino cutters into the shortbread. It was lots of fun and tasty to eat!
