Baking Soda Lemon Experiments

The grasshoppers had lots of fun being scientists and investigating baking soda's reactions when mixed with different materials. For their first experiment, they created a lemon volcano. By colouring lemons using food colouring, they covered them with baking soda and then squeezed them to trigger a chemical eruption. They enjoyed observing how the lemon juice and baking soda interacted, producing fizz.
In their second experiment, they mixed white vinegar and baking soda to generates gas. To explore this, they placed baking soda in the finger of a glove and inserted it into a balloon. After filling the balloon with white vinegar and securing it, they popped and shook the balloon to release the baking soda, witnessing the chemical reaction that caused gas to inflate their balloons.
