The Butterflies took part in a fine and gross motor finger gym activity where they used tweezers to pick up conkers and place them in the pots. Children practiced opening and closing the tweezers strengthening their hand and finger muscles to build early writing skills that they will need later in life. The children built resilience as they tried using trial and error and pushed forward with determination when they dropped the conker or struggled to secure it. The children then demonstrated high levels of pride as they succeeded.
Mathematical development was introduced as children counted the conkers with 1:1 correspondence as they added them to the pot. Correctly placing the correct number of conkers in the correct numbered pot.
Well done Butterflies!
