The Grasshoppers have been threading African bead jewellery as part of our Black History Month celebrations. The children looked at African beads on jewellery in Africa and the types of jewellery worn around the world. The children used fine motor skills and pincer grasps to thread small beads onto a string. The activity took large amounts of the concentration and engagement and the children demonstrated lots of characteristics if effective learning as they continued to persist when difficulties occurred and kept on trying. The children were very excited and proud of their achievements when they had finished their bracelets.
