We are going on a Bear Hunt

We’re going on a Bear Hunt

As it is national story telling month this week in the toddler room we focused on one of our favourite stories, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We love listening to this story and repeating the key word and phrases. For our first activity we took our story sack characters on their own bear hunt while listening to the story. We moved them along the different areas in sequence to the story stomping, twirling and squelching as we went. We were able to explore a variety of different textures using our hands and we created our own narrative as we played together. We then further extended this by recreating the different areas the characters go through and walking through them ourselves. We stepped into the deep, cold river, squelched our feet into some gooey “mud” and even walked through our own snow storm. We concluded our activity by going on our own bear hunt in the garden. We used magnifying glasses and binoculars to look for the cave where the bear is hiding. We found him hiding in the den area! Well done toddlers what a great week!
