Treasure day
For national treasure day the babies went on a mini treasure hunt, the babies found an old treasure map and discovered some shiny golden coins that were hidden in the sand. The more they dug the more coins they found. The babies were encouraged to put the treasure in the pirate ships to keep it safe. Whilst taking part in this activity the babies listened to a song about pirate ships to make them feel like real life pirates.
For treasure hunt day in toddler room we made our own treasure maps. We dabbed wet tea bags on paper to make it look old and dirty. Once this was dry we used felt tip pens to create our map. We were able to explore pen control and give meaning to marks we were making as we talked about where our treasure was hiding. We then used our motor skills to roll the paper and added a pipe cleaner to hold it together. We were very excited to then go and look for treasure in the garden. We further extended this by digging for treasure in our sand tray and collecting it in buckets. Well done Toddlers.
