Transport Explorers
This week in the toddler room we finished our transport topic by exploring all types of transport. To begin we went on a trip around our local area to observe what types of transport we might see. On our trip we saw a bicycle and explored how it looked and listened to the bell. We then looked at a bus stop and the bus time table. We then went into the train station and looked at the train map and explored the ticket machine. We then watched the train come into the platform. To extend this further and to develop of fine motor and pencil control we then drew our own vehicle models. We looked at pictures of lots of different vehicles and this prompted lots of discussions while we drew our pictures. WE reminisced about times we had travelled on these types of transport like airplane, bus and cars. For our final part of our week we made our own junk model vehicles. We used a variety of recyclable materials to create our own types of transport. We spent a lot of time constructing our vehicles and testing where the different pieces we could place our items. We made lots of airplanes, helicopters and boats. We decorated our models with lots of collage materials like pom poms and tissue paper. It was really lovely seeing everyone's ideas and playing with their own creations. Well done toddlers what a great week!
