Toddler Room: Pizza Making
This week in toddler room we finished our materials topic by making pizzas. We explored which different materials we would need for the ingredients of our pizzas. To do this, we used the touch and tilt table to see where some of our ingredients come from. We watched a short clip of a farmer harvesting some vegetables from the ground, we enjoyed pointing out which vegetables we could see and talked about our favourites and how they taste. Following these discussions, we then created our own vegetable patch tuft tray where we harvested some of our own vegetables. This was a fun way for us to explore using our fine motor skills and trying out different tools like rakes and spades. We then washed the vegetables that we collected and prepared them for our pizzas. We risk assessed the knives we would be using to chop our vegetables using words like “careful” and “chop”. Our next job was to create the pizzas we used utensils to spread tomato paste onto pitta bread and sprinkled cheese on top. We then added our vegetables that we chopped onto them. Once we were happy with our creations, they went into the oven to bake. We then got to eat the pizzas we all made! It was a lovely achievement seeing the result of our pizzas after all the work we put into making them. Well done toddlers on following all the directions and process of our pizza making to create your delicious pizzas what a great job!
