This week in preschool, we played one of our favourite games, “The floor is lava”. We created a bigger version of the game in the garden, using different resources such as stepping stones, tires and bridges to set up. The children then danced around the garden using the gross motor skills, once they heard that the floor was lava, they had to quickly find something to stand on. To make the game more difficult we removed different items each time. The children used their balancing skills and problem solving skills to to escape the lava. The children were very creative with their choices. The children used the bikes, crates and bean bags to help them escape. To further extend the activity the children used their ICT skills to add the lava into their pictures. The children loved using the pen tool to add red, yellow and orange to the grass areas. They also love adding the fire emoji to it!
