That’s not my unicorn
This week in toddler room we have shown an interest in unicorns. We have been asking lots of questions and been very curious about unicorns and unicorn stories. So we extended this by exploring our “The Last Unicorn” and “That’s not my unicorn” books. Through these books we were able to explore new words like “Trotting”, “gallop” and “prancing”. We enjoyed looking at the beautiful unicorn pictures in the books and talking about the colours and textures. To extend this we then explored our own magical unicorn themed tray. We used our imaginations to pretend and re-enact the stories we had read. We enjoyed creating our own sounds and words. During this activity we were also able to explore our fine motor skills by pinching, grabbing and filling containers to sprinkle our magic unicorn dust around the tray. We continued to extend this further by creating our own edible unicorn horns. We mixed food colouring and ice sugar and used spoons to drizzle and spread the icing over ice cream corn “unicorn horns”. We then added sprinkles to make them sparkly. These were a lovely tasty treat to end our week. Great job toddlers.
