Teamwork makes the dream work

Teamwork makes the dream work!

This week in preschool, the children portrayed the importance of teamwork & communication among themselves. They took part in some challenging activities involving balloons that would help exercise these types of skills. The first game set for the children was the ‘reverse balloon pass’ where they were positioned in a circle but only seeing the back of the person in front of them, so when it’s their turn to lift the balloon above their head, they passed it backwards hand in hand without turning their head around. This encouraged the children to be patient and build trust, keeping watch of the balloon so they make sure to grab it with 2 hands, from in front of them. They all took turns and performed brilliantly. Furthermore, as we split this game into 2 groups, we extended the fun by making one of the groups the winners depending on how many passes they can make without dropping the balloon. All the children were successful with both teams, through excellent cooperation and focus.

The next activity introduced was getting the balloon in the box. This included a piece of paper, 2 pairs of hands and a box. In pairs, the children took turns holding either side of the paper with the balloon balancing in the middle, and with a lot of concentration and slow side steps, they had to tip the balloon into the box once they felt, they were close enough to. Along with that, they had to level their hands at a correct height so the balloon wouldn’t fall and cause them to start over, neither too high so it would cover their view of the balloon but instead holding it at a good measure like a barrier. Again, the children were successful with of course a lot of attempts but also a lot of wins. These tasks not only encouraged the children to work together but to realize and understand what balance is, and how they can alternate how fast or slowly they move their bodies, to reach their goal! Great work Preschool!
