Summer Island Fun
This week in pre-school we explored an island tuft tray, we used sand and jelly baff as the main materials to set the setting. The children really enjoyed making up adventures and using problem solving to answer questions such as “How can the islanders escape from the island?”. We also spoke about what we could name the Island and settled for Unicornsaurusland. We spoke about other islands and found out that the UK is an island too! To extend this we had a conversation about the different destinations we had been to around the world on holiday and spoke about the different foods and drinks.
To follow on from our island activity we decided to make mocktails, we used the touch and tilt table to find a mocktail menu and based our own creations off these. Fine motor skills were used to chop the fruit for the activity and make the citric wedges for the side of our cups. We Made pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris. Tropical, pineapple and orange juices were used as well as coconut water then added food colouring to make the desired colour! They were very tasty and we enjoyed making them.
