St Andrew’s Day (1)

On Friday everyone celebrated St Andrews day the saints day of Scotland. In the baby room the children listened to some traditional Scottish ceilidh music. The children were able to dance along with instruments to the music. The children then took part in a large scale painting activity where they looked at the Scottish flag and were able to use paints and brushes to create their own representation of the flag. In the toddler room Claire taught the children some traditional songs that parents and adults sing to children when they are in nursery. The children were able to join in with the Coulters Candy song and enjoyed listening to some traditional music. The children were then able to explore a blue and white themed tuft tray where they were able to learn and talk about the Scottish flag and the different colours in it while also enjoying some transferring and filling and pouring. In the pre school room the children learned about Highland dancing and took part in their very own Highland jig. They made their own tartan kilt and really enjoyed dancing and copying the instructions of the dance. Well done preschool.
