Spring colours and flower exploration

This week in baby room we have been busy exploring the colour yellow as it is a typical spring colour. We used various types and consistencies of messy yellow food play such as custard, angel delight and Jelly with added real and artificial flowers to encourage the babies to explore and promote their sensory development. The babies enjoyed the consistency of the jelly as it wobbled and slipped through their fingers when they tried to pick it up and also the texture of the angel delight as they made marks with their hands. The babies particularly enjoyed tasting the items as they played, they also had the opportunity to explore different temperatures whilst exploring blocks of ice with flowers inside. To finish off with all the fun and messy activities, the babies then had the opportunity to plant their own sunflowers.
