Snow and ice
This week in the baby room we continued our winter topic theme. In the beginning of the week, we explored some real snow from outside. We added it to our tuft tray with pots and utensils. It was interesting to explore the cold wet texture of the snow and use our hands to touch and pat it. We mashed and scooped the snow with our utensils to see the cause and effect of what would happen. We then continued with the snow theme by creating a winter wonderland made from shaving foam. We used arctic animals and small world people to make shapes and explore the foam. We then extended this by adding coloured rice to our tray. This was a great way for us to explore making marks and practice using our fine motor skills when pinching and holding the long pieces of ice. This activity encouraged us to use our senses to help us learn and explore.
