Sharing a Shell
This week we explored a book by Julia Donaldson called “Sharing a Shell”. The children listened to the story as part of circle time and got the opportunity to explore the different types of sea creatures that was part of the story, and ask questions about other creatures that were new to them. The children then explored the themed tuft tray by looking at the visuals that was set out, recognising different colours, counting how many rocks they could see that was part of the rockpool, and learning some new words, such as bristle worm, blob, and gull. The children enjoyed exploring the different textures within the tray and used the sea creatures to re-enact the story. This blog activity also encouraged the children to talk about the different types of sea creatures they have seen at the beach or whilst on holiday, and talk to one another.
