Rosh Hashanah (3)

On Wednesday the preschool enjoyed learning about and celebrating Rosh Hashanah. We would like to thank Ilai's parents for bringing in some apples and honey for the children to enjoy. The children also enjoyed listening to the book that Ilai brought in at circle time and enjoyed learning key words from the book. The children enjoyed having apples and honey for their morning snack and enjoyed having some challah bread. The children learned that they eat apples and honey to represent the start of a sweet new year. The children then enjoyed learning a Jewish song about Rosh Hashana, dipping the apples in the honey and enjoyed playing their instruments in a big circle. We then made our own pomegranate painting where the children dipped q-tips into red coloured paint and make marks on their pomegranate to represent the inside of the pomegranate. The children then enjoyed looking at a pomegranate and enjoyed looking inside of the pomegranate when being cut in half. The children enjoyed eating the pomegranate for tea. One child aid “its sweet and crunchy”.

Well done preschool for learning about Rosh Hashana.

The babies celebrated Rosh Hashana by making prints using sliced apples and yellow paint to symbolise honey.

In Toddler Room we celebrated Rosh Hashanah together by tasting different foods that were taste safe and age appropriate. We edited the honey to syrup. We really enjoyed dipping apples and trying the different breads and Matzah bread. It was lovely time to come together and try something new. We also made some lovely apple prints by dipping apples into different colours of paint. Great job toddlers.
