Room on the Broom (3)

This week in the toddler room we focused on the spooky theme of Halloween. To do this we extended our love of reading by looking at our "Room on the Broom" book. For our first activity we looked at the book and used the soft toy characters to create our own versions of the story. It was lovely to see which parts and key phrases we remembered thus extending our vocabularly through learning new words. Of course the magic words were very popular. "Iggity, ziggity, zaggety, Zoom!" We even extended this to our free play imaginative play together. To further extend this and our interest in the magic words we then made our very own magic potions! We explored a tuft tray filled with lots of cauldrons and different ingredients for our spells. We used our motor skills to mix and pour the different ingredients together. While creating our potions we were able to explore our mathematical skills through measuring and testing consistency. Our potions were very fun to explore and we enjoyed using our hands to feel the different textures of jelly, rice and spaghetti. Well done toddlers it was lovely seeing your links to one of your favourite stories.
