Road Safety Awareness Week
This week was all about road safety awareness. In preschool we roleplayed how to cross a zebra crossing safely and what we need to look out for whenever we cross the road. We learnt the rule to ‘look left and right’ and to always use our listening ears to hear out for sounds of traffic whenever we are crossing any of the roads. We asked the children what they knew about when we cross the roads and lots of the children said “we have to look for the green person” and “we must cross the road with an adult.” We then spoke about who else could help us cross the road and some children said “lollipop person!” The children then had the chance to help their peers cross the road safely, and we listened out for traffic noises. When the traffic noises were on, the preschoolers used their knowledge and said “No crossing yet!” we then stopped the traffic sounds and they all agreed it was safe to cross.
Well done preschool for your extensive learning this week!
For road safety week the toddler room went on a trip around our local area to library. On our way to the library we observed the traffic on the road and discussed how we need to stay on the pavement to stay safe. When crossing the road we made sure we looked both ways. At the traffic lights we pressed the button and waited as the light for us was red which we learned means stop. Green means go so we crossed the road safety when our light turned green.
