Road Safety (3)

This week in the toddler room we showed an interest in safety so we focused on road safety. To begin with we discussed the do’s and don’ts of crossing roads. Some suggestions were “hold hands” and “waiting”. We learned that red means stop and green means go. We then demonstrated this by going a walk around our local area. We crossed a zebra crossing and learned that we have to look left, right and then left again making sure cars stop so that we can safely cross. We then went to a traffic light crossing we pressed the button and waited, we pointed out that while waiting we can see the red person. We waited and then when the green person appeared we safely crossed the road. When we got back to nursery we made our own traffic lights from our hand prints. We then used them to play the red light, green light game. One friend held up the green light and we could walk then when the changed to red we all stopped. This was a fun activity to play together and helped us remember what we had learned. Great job toddlers!
