Risky Play

This week in preschool the children have been exploring risky play. The children have been using a wide range of different materials to explore the hammer and nails with. To start off with the children enjoyed hammering the nails into empty glove boxes. The children used their fine motor skills to place each of the nails into to box and then hammer them down into the boxes. The children then used different materials such as apples, lemons and grapefruits. The children enjoyed placing the different amount of nails into the fruits and made sure that they were being careful with their hands when they were hammering the nails into the fruits. The children said “the fruit looks like a hedgehog with all the spikes”. To extend on the risky play the children enjoyed using the drill and enjoyed painting with the drill. The children listened to the adults and followed instructions when using the drill. The children dipped the paintbrush in the different coloured paints and then pressed the orange button to watch the drill in action. The pre-schoolers were fascinated by the orange button and how the speed changes when pressing the button.
The pre-schoolers did amazing at following instructions and were very careful when doing different risky play activities. Well done Preschool.
