Remembrance Day
In the toddler room to celebrate Remembrance Day we watched a short clip detailing why we have Remembrance Day. We observed different types of poppies. We then used our fine motor skills to do our own versions of poppies through finger painting. We dabbed and dotted black and red spots to create our poppies.
The babies took part in remembrance day by painting their hands red and making handprints on paper to resemble the poppies , the babies also listened to a well-known traditional music piece which is called ‘the last post’.
For Remembrance Day the children made their own poppy banner for us to take to Shacklewell memorial, we spoke about the importance of Remembrance Day and how our brave soldiers protected our country and rights. We also spoke about Flanders field and how it where poppies grow furthering the tribute to the soldiers. For our trip we had poppies face painted on us as a show of respect. We also did our own 2 minute silence at 11am, it was very tricky but we managed very well and gave ourselves a pat on the back after.
