The babies have loved having their family photos on the display board, they constantly approach it and excitedly point to the pictures of theirs and their peers’ loved ones. We decided to incorporate this interest into an activity. We covered the pictures with sand and provided the babies with sand tools, they were encouraged to use their hands to explore the texture of the sand and to use the spades to scoop and pour and fill the moulds. The babies were very excited to find photos of their parents and siblings hidden in the tray.
