Our sense of touch!

This week in preschool, we explored our sense of touch through an obstacle course and sensory buckets. The obstacle course consisted of different textured hoola hoops. The hoola hoops had string, tissue paper, material and ribbon attached. In between each of the hoola hoops were other textures such as sand, hay, pompoms, grass and beanbags. The children took it in turns to use their gross motor skills to crawl through each of the hoola hoops. They described the different textures that they could feel, using words such as “cold”, “soft”, “squashy” and “crunchy”. The children really enjoyed it and kept going round again.

To further extend on this, we created some sensory buckets, which had sand, shaving foam, water and jelly bath. The children again took it in turns to walk into each bucket and describe what they could feel. The children really got stuck in with the sensory buckets and even used their hands to feel the different textures. Great job Preschool
