Materials

This week in the baby room, we looked at the different materials. We made a basket full of all the different materials that we could find and then once we collected everything we needed, we sat in a circle gathering around the basket to have a look at what we could see. The babies had the opportunity to explore the basket and to touch and feel the different textures. The adults then said what some of the different materials felt like. For example, “It’s soft”, “it’s rough” or “it’s silky”.  some of them were also hard and bumpy. We also spoke about the bright colours that we could see in the basket and to extend this activity, some of the babies took part in a fun and creative sticking activity; they made beautiful collages using some of the different materials that we saw in the basket.
