Making Spring Rolls
This week we read a book called “savvy savouries” which is an Indian/African recipe book, we looked through the book and used children’s choice to decide to make spring rolls by narrowing down some of the easier recipes and getting the children to point or say which one they wanted to make. We gathered the ingredients and used our gross motor skills to mix together the peas, sweetcorn and potatoes to form the inside filling, we then placed the filling into the spring roll pastry where we then used our fine motor skills to use our fingers to roll it into the cylinder shape, we then used a special paste to keep it together. The spring rolls were then shallow fried and when they were ready, we ate them for tea. The children used the words “crispy” and “yummy” to describe it and enjoyed our home-made treat.
