Makaton

This week in preschool the children learned about Makaton. The children first discussed what Makaton was and one child said “you can use it for children that can’t hear.” The then learned how to say good morning and hello. The children were very active in learning Makaton and were able to do the actions very well! The Makaton of the week was introduced to preschool and they were excited about learning a new Makaton sign each week. This week they learned the sign for “winter”! To further extend, the children were given a task to label different items around the room. They children had to first guess what the sign was, to which they were able to guess most of them! The children then took it in turns to label different items around the room. Preschool really enjoyed learning about Makaton and we will continue to introduce it more regularly throughout their day and time at nursery!
