London & New York
This week in preschool, we researched America for its recent continent day event. We chose New York as the specific city to dig into and learn more about, with a 3-part activity for the children’s engagement and to enhance their knowledge. We began by reading them an A-Z New York book that Carine kindly brought back from her trip there, which involves a variety of popular buildings like statue of liberty, emirate building, Brooklyn bridge, and internal places that holds a lot of great scenery like times square, central park and many more. Next, we done a quick memory game using the touch and tilt which displayed the spoken about places from the book, in a more realistic view and to test the children’s memory, just before we briefly scanned through some places in London too.
Lastly, to get the children up and active there were multiple places and things relating to either city written down in a basket, with two headers labelling both cities and their task was to take turns randomly picking out from the basket and guessing which city it’s placed underneath. For example, black cabs are London and yellow taxis in New York. The children were so amazing in these activities and cooperated with each other brilliantly as a team, helping each other out!
