Light & Dark Experiments
This week we explored different events that happens during the day and the night e.g., flowers grow better at night, and you only see the stars during the night. We then explored nocturnal animals and diurnal animals, we watched a short clip-on different animal on the touch and tilt and then had to sort them after seeing how much of what we watched we remembered. We spoke about our routine and when we go to sleep and when we are more awake, we also spoke about how different things give us energy during the day.
We then went into the garden when it was dark to explore through the telescopes and look at the stars and see if we could see the planets and the moon. We didn’t see any stars because of something called “light pollution” we learned that the pollution in London means that we cannot see the stars because of lamplights and other artificial lighting. We did an experiment with a jar with clear water and glitter, then kept adding yellow water to see if we could still see the glitter, turns out we couldn’t!
As always preschool exhibited brilliant focus and listening skills during these series of activities, well done preschool.
