Let’s explore Antarctica!

This week to begin our new topic ‘winter’ we visited Antarctica, we used a variety of resources to mimic snow such as cotton wool, shaving foam, icing sugar and silver tinsel, the babies thoroughly enjoyed the variety of sensory experiences on offer such as wet, dry, soft, hard and mouldable. They also enjoyed using their fingers and the animals to make marks in the snow which promoted their expressive arts and design along with their physical development whilst also learning about the different animals we can find in Antarctica. To extend this we used our ICT equipment to see real life penguins, the babies enjoyed watching the way they moved.
