Lemonade for Sale!!
This week in toddler room we focused on our room interest of role play and linked it to our summer topic. We made our own Lemonade stand. We used our physical and motor skills to cut some lemons and limes. We assessed the risks of using the knives discussing that we have to be “safe” and “careful” when using them. After we cut the fruit we then used juicers to create some lemon and lime juice. We really enjoyed squeezing the lemons and having a taste during this task. We talked about how “sour” the lemons were but we all decided we liked eating them. We found the cause and effects of using the juicers very interesting and it was great to see the finished result. After our lemon juice spent some time in the fridge we then set to the task of making our Lemonade. We measured out some water and sugar. We then poured the sugar into the water and did lots of mixing with our spoon. We had to use our strong gross motor skills as there was a lot of mixing and waiting for the sugar to dissolve. We poured the lemon juice into our mixture and stirred again. Once this was all mixed together we made two jugs, one with a little more water that tasted sour and one that was a little sweeter. We did some taste testing and were all very proud of the result. To extend this further we turned our role play area into a lemonade stand where we sold our lemonade to our friends. Well done toddlers great team work this week!
